SCHOOL NOTICE UPDATE

Kia Ora Whanau & Fono

We are now at Alert Level 3. At this stage, it is for seven days. We’ve had a little practice this year already about what to expect in Distance Home Learning and some students may already be able to discuss with you how they can access their at-home online learning if you have a device already for them.

Home Learning Packs will be available for pick up on Monday 9.00am to 12.00pm.  Packs can be collected from the school office but we ask that you please scan or sign in and remember social distancing.

The teachers will be online tomorrow if you are wanting to make contact with them about your child’s home learning and how you can support them. Teacher email addresses can be found on the school website page. As a staff tomorrow we will be discussing the best way that we can get digital devices to those needing them and will update you after tomorrow’s meeting.

Remember we are all in this together. We are here to support you and your tamariki as much as possible. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you need help. Keep it simple, family and health first.

Stay safe

NEW UPDATE – 17 FEBRUARY 2021

ALERT LEVEL 2

It is Alert Level 2 and school is open for all children to attend. We look forward to seeing all children and staff back at school tomorrow but under Level 2 protocols. Under Level 2 only the children are permitted on site. You will be met at the gate in the morning where we can welcome the children back and apply hand sanitiser as they enter. After school, the children will be released in three stages.

  • Children walking home will leave first at 2:45pm
  • Children being picked up by car will leave at the normal time of 2:55pm
  • Children waiting for older siblings will meet by Rooms 21 & 22 (near the school hall) and be released as the High School children come out.

Please talk with me or one of our Senior Staff at the gate if you absolutely need to enter the school.  In this event, you will need to visit the office first to complete contact tracing details.   Nga mihi Rex Maddren Principal

Healthy School Lunches Programme

Ka Ora, Ka Ako | Healthy School Lunches Programme

Suggested message to whānau, parents and families for your school newsletter

We are really excited to join the Ka Ora, Ka Ako | Healthy School Lunches programme and provide lunches for students at Leabank Primary School from Wednesday 3rd February 2021.

Providing a regular nutritious lunch can make a big difference to students’ learning and participation at school and will go some way to helping families and whānau to support their children and tamariki.

Lunches will cater for the diet, health and cultural needs of all students, and we will work closely with your school and the Ministry of Education to make sure they are healthy and nutritious.

Like all suppliers, we are required to meet New Zealand food safety standards and make sure food is handled safely and hygienically.

Our menu
Ka Ora, Ka Ako is a new programme for us, students, schools and kura. We know that it can be challenging to provide healthy food that children want to eat and that getting children to enjoy new foods can take time. A standard menu is offered across all the schools and kura we provide lunches for.

We have undertaken to provide lunches that meet the basic standards of nutrition set out in the Ka Ora, Ka Ako nutrition guidelines and in the coming weeks will continue to work with your school to gradually introduce new menu items and make lunches even healthier.

Our delivery
BiteLAB is the official supplier in the Manurewa North and South area, for the Ministry of Education ‘Ka Ora, Ka Ako’ programme. Beginning Term 1 2021, our team will supply students with free, yummy and nutritious kai, every school day.

The experienced team will arrive on-site daily and deliver individual meals to schools, which will then distributed to the students. As meals are finished, the team will return to remove all waste from the school.

BiteLAB is a NZ owned and operations business with significant experience in the Education food sector. Our team is hugely excited to be a part of this programme and really looking forward to a partnership that brings the benefits of nutrition to the wellbeing of our tamariki.
